As the convention comes to an end, I wish I had a few more days in Las Vegas. Working the convention with my father I heard plenty of memorable stories. As he rekindled past relationships with old friends, they shared classic stories from past fights. I heard stories of being in Africa for the Ali fight, and other classic fights they attended. It only made me think, what classic fighters are we witnessing now? Am I supposed to compare Floyd Mayweather with Ali? Nobody is Ali, but who would be my Ali, is th point I’m trying to make.
We don’t have that dominant heavyweight that entertains and kicks ass. Mike Tyson was the last to really shine in that weight class. Roy Jones had a buzz, but he only moved up to beat John Ruiz. He wasn’t a true heavyweight. The light heavyweight division is taking over now. They are offering the most exciting fights for “big” guys. The lower weights have always been known to throw hands.
